Short Course Description:
Introduce network related security issues including applications and standards. The fundamental principles of computer and communication networking will be reviewed first, and then we focus on covert channels in computer networks and WLAN security issues.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of the course, the students should:
• Understand fundamental principles of computer and communication networking.
• Have general knowledge on how the security is provided to Internet and current existing security issues.

2 (11/27) Background knowledge:
• Getting connected to form a LAN, WLAN
• Interconnect different types of networks to build a large global network (IP Layer)
3 (12/1) Background knowledge (Cont.)
• To turn this host-to-host packet delivery service into a process-to-process communication channel (TCP layer)
• TCP and UDP
4 (12/8) Cryptology and Steganography Network Steganography—Covert channels
• Principle concepts of steganography
• Hiding data in IP layer
