  1. The PPP certification aims to ensure that the students in the Department of Computer Science & Information Engineering (CSIE) have developed qualified primary programming proficiency for software design before they can graduate from the department. This rule is made to regulate the enforcement of the PPP certification.
  2. This rule applies to all undergraduate students (including the International Bachelor classes) admitted in/after the 2012 School Year (2012 Fall).
  3. Before graduation, each student is required to receive the PPP certification by passing an on-site and real-time programming test held in the department each semester. The scope of the programming test would cover comprehensively the programming skills trained in the core courses includingIntroduction to Computer Programming (I) + (II) and Data Structures.
  4. For each student, there is no upper limit on the number of tests he/she can attend during his/her studying in the department.
  5. Students who want to participate in a test must register to the department office within 2 weeks after each semester begins. The date to perform the test will be announced on the departmental website before the registration procedure starts.
  6. The test duration is 3 hours. Each participant is required to solve at least 3 programming problems to pass the test. The names of all participants passing the test will be announced on the departmental website.
  7. By fulfilling the following conditions, along with the submission of official carnets, is considered to be equivalent to the PPP certification:
    1. Receiving programming-related certificates approved by the PPP Certification Committee of the department;
    2. Participating in National Collegiate Programming Contest (NCPC) organized by Taiwan’s Minister Of Education (教育部舉辦全國大專電腦軟體設計競賽), ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ACM國際大學程式競賽), or other programming contests approved by the PPP Certification Committee, and receiving an award credited as “Excellent Work” or better.
    3. Participating the Collegiate Programming Examination (大學程式能力檢定), and receiving a test score falling within the top 50% in that examination.
  8. This rule has been established by Departmental Committee of Curriculum Designing and Planning,  approved by Departmental Executive Meeting, and announced publically afterwards. The same procedure should be proceeded for future modifications.
