General Requirements:

Minimum Graduation Requirements:28 credits

Compulsory Courses: 4 Credits
Elective Courses: 24 Credits from courses, plus Thesis (I), (II), Seminar (III), (IV)

Important Rules and Regulations:

  1. At least half (1/2) of the courses studied must be offered by the Department of Computer Science & Information Engineering.
  2. Master’s students may select any Master and/or Ph.D. level courses to study; the course credits can be counted toward graduation.
  3. Credits earned in courses of the same name offered by other departments or institutes may be substituted (up to 12 credits maximum) toward elective course requirements with the approval of the Departmental Graduate Studies Committee. Credits earned from CSIE courses are exempted from the credit substitution limit.
  4. Master students must select Seminar course each semester until passing (I), (II), (III) and (IV) or graduation. Earned credits for Seminar (III) and (IV) do not count toward graduation credits. In addition, Master students must select Independent Study or Thesis each semester until graduation.
  5. Master students, who continue onto their 2nd year, must select Thesis (I)~(VI) each semester accordingly. Earned credits for Thesis (I)~(VI) do not count as Elective Courses credits nor toward graduation credits.
  6. All students must pass the Primary Programming Proficiency Exam in order to graduate.
  7. All students must fulfill the English Proficiency Requirement for Graduate Students in order to graduate.
  8. In addition to this requirement, all scholarship awardees must follow the scholarship regulations and requirements to complete the degree.
  9. All Master/Ph.D students shall Take and Pass the “Academic Research Ethics Education Curriculum” from the “Taiwan Academic Ethics Education Resource Center” online platform. Please come to the CSIE Department Office to register this class and present the qualified certificate. All Master/Ph.D students must pass this requirement before Oral Defense Exam. (本學年度起入學之本系研究所學生,須於入學後之第一學期選課期間,至系辦登記修習「臺灣學術倫理教育資源中心」線上平台之「學術研究倫理教育課程」,須通過線上課程測驗成績達及格標準,並出示修課證明始得申請學位考試。未通過者,須於申請學位考試前補修完成,未完成本課程者,不得申請學位考試)
