In response to Taiwan’s Government’s invitation and to strengthen the relationship between two countries, the Deputy Prime Minister of Saint Christopher and Nevis, the Honorable Shawn Richards a delegation of five visited Taiwan to discuss with government officials, students, and agencies the developmental projects in the areas of education and sports.
On May 24th, 2018, the Deputy Prime Minister and his delegation, which also included the Resident Ambassador, Her Excellency Jasmine Huggins, along with Taiwanese Diplomatic officials, visited the National Dong Hwa University and were welcomed by NDHU’s President, Prof./Dr. Han-Chieh Chao, faculty and staff members, along with 10 Students who currently represent the federation.
Currently, there are 52 students from Federation studying in Taiwan, of which 9 of them are in NDHU, with 2 more coming in Fall 2018. This makes NDHU the largest group of students that represent the federation. Therefore, Deputy Prime Minister Richards has designated a special trip to NDHU, to know the students’ status.
Stephen T. Richards, who brought remarks on behalf of the students, praised the university for making them feel welcome and for its academic programs. Stephen highlighted a number of awards won by the students from St. Kitts and Nevis, and various activities in which they have been involved.
The students were praised for their dedication to their studies, embracing the culture, participation in extracurricular activities and for being outstanding ambassadors of the twin-island Federation.
